Have a belt driven vacuum pump. Does anyone know how much flow and pressure of oil it requires to operate?

it will pull in its own oil.....and return it to a sump with the discharge air......the old Broom Wade vac pumps use to have a Pilgrim oil pump either end ,which was basically a drip feed .....Pilgrim pumps are worth hundreds of dollars ,due to their association with JAP motors.

If the pump is on an engine, then a feed from the oil gallery......if not on an engine ,then probably a drip feed to each end (assuming its a vane pump)........you should be able to organize a discharge sump at pump level, with feed pipes to the bearings ....the vacuum in the pump should pull oil in through the shaft bearings ,and lubricate the vanes as well ,as these need lubrication.

Thanks JOHN K Confirm that it is ok to be pressure fed from engine system and then dumps back into engine with discharge from vacuum pump. My concerns are that the engine oil pressure [60-70psi when cold] might be too high for seal on pump shaft
