It was MANs that were 5 cylinder ...those big boxy overnighters had the 5cyl 200hp and a ZF box that changed side to side........but later they went even weirder,and had a RoadRanger with column change.

LS and LPS 1418 Mercedes Benz's were 6 cylinder engines . Maybe the L1418 used a different motor

Is it possible that a similar looking vehicle had a five cylinder motor option, overseas?
1418 became a generic name for any Benz looking like a 1418. A 240 hp 1418 was an often used description for an entirely different, but similar look in model.

If you look through this list, provided by Lang, early in the thread, MB never offered a five cylinder truck engine.

They also had a 2.8ltr 5 cylinder car engine. I had one in a Jeep. They are also fitted to a lot of Sprinters, ie ambulances.

The 3.2Litre Diesel Engine used in the Ford Ranger & Mazda BT50 is 5 Cylinder..
