Isn't it amazing how much things have changed... Wouldn't you love to be able to buy a bog stock single drive truck for around ten grand (which admittedly was about half the price of a house back in the day) and head off interstate.
I still shake my head at how slow they were, I remember Dad's wouldn't pull top gear in any sort of wind.. And with a 85 kph diff like they had, you'd be struggling up the road at 60 odd k's an hour... no wonder it used to take us three or four days each way to do a Melbourne Brisbane run.. I guess they were a fantastic and amazing upgrade from an Inter with a Perkins though.
Cheers!

Lets see what the puter can drag out of its brain for the special day of Fraulines....
I believe this old darling may still be running around Dubbo doing a might job?
And this one may still be sitting behind a shed in Shepparton... should be rescued, hopefully it will be.
Same with this one- they were still using it about ten years ago when i dropped in. Now? i dunno...
cheers!

Well it definitely isn't Frauline Friday or any other such thing
I have hardly had a chance to even be online in the last week or so
a middle East runner from back in the day, I have been fascinated with European to middle east trucks from the 70's to the first gulf war brought a abrupt end to it all
Drivers would be away from home for a month or at a time
“I’ve been down as far as Doha
Saudi with its Sheiks I have seen,
Stuck on a mountain near Urfa
Rocks have been thrown at my screen,
I am as cold as hell
The engine is not working, the diesel is frozen as well
Driven over them in the summer,
In the summer when it’s hot,
I’ve been stuck on them in winter when it’s not,
I’ve struggled in the spring time,
I’ve cursed them in the fall,
But Turkeys bloody mountains are the worst ones of them all .
Bless my Dad xxx
and something from this wide brown land
Sorry about running late
Paul
