Well it's Fabulous Frauline Friday evening everyone
Bet you jokers thought I forgot
Busy day again
From John Butler
In the early 80s my dad Ernie Butler purchased the 2624 Mercedes Benz semi tipper painted white and brown working with Tony Newton. Worked our way through the centre of Queensland finishing up in Darwin.
Moved back to Brisbane where he fitted an agitator working for Maxie/ Minnie mix out of Mansfield. We moved to north Brisbane changing colours and worked for Pine concrete Bald Hills.
Eventually Ernie upgraded to a twin steer Leader and sold the faithful Benz to a feller putting it to work in a private quarry with a steel rock body and never saw it again. Before Ernie purchased the truck, it was owned by Tony Newton pictured blue and white.
It was involved in an accident and that’s why the colours were changed to sell it off. I’m pictured with my mum Heather Butler and in the middle with my younger brother and dad in front of it when it was green and red.
Also pictured are some of the other trucks Tony owned.
