Hi All,
Wondering if anyone has hidden away any old photos of the original ABM Foden 8 wheeler rigids.
Ones I'm referring to would have been around in the early to mid sixties, ones I am thinking of would have been Gardner powered, either 5 or 6 cylinder, David Brown geared.
Had a rather long but not very high sided tipping body.
Painted blue and white, long before it became BM&G or BMI.
A lot were based out the old Wallgrove (NSW) quarry, but probably ran from quite a few depots.
Any photos posted would be appreciated.
Cheers, Dave_64

I’ve got one of a ERF and a Foden, but not 8 wheelers. It’s one photo but both trucks are single drive bogie trailer, sorry.

This one now for sale. Gardner 6LXB, Foden 12 speed - 4 on the stick and 3 air preselect on the column.
Same spec as the one in the restoration articles in VTC magazine a year or two ago.

Thanks for the correction, Billy P.
Too many years ago for this brain-drained old goat.
O'Neills Erskine Park, was that next door to the water catchment supply? Also close to the old Western Hwy?
All changed now of course, now that you mention it, Wallgrove, I think, was originally the old Ray Fitzpatrick Quarry, later to become Pioneer?
Both probably worked out of material many years ago??

Dave........
Fitzies was the Wallgrove quarry i suppose,.... then was Poineer, etc and now Bingo............
My mistake about ABM being Bingo..........
Erskine Park Quarry (ABM) was further west,........main entrance off Mamre Rd / Erskine Park Rd area................
The closest quarry to Prospect Resevoir would have been Styles Blue Metal , then Blue Metal & Gravel (BMI)............
Of corse in the early days there were small quarries all over the place in that area..................
The quarry ownership around BMI and Styles and others turned into a real shit fight with the entry of
Readymix / CSR and Boral into the scene . resulting in major court cases that left most people
wondering just who owned what..........
That is as i recall (it was a while ago ).............
