Here is one fr the members north of the border. Apparently this Auction has been listed in the past and had some unreal reserves, that is now might have changed with no buyers premium.

A mate of mine who lives near the Auction said that the reserve prices were over the top and next to nothing sold because of it. Unless that changes he will be up for the costs of running yet another auction with few sales. The auctioneer doesn't mind he gets paid either way.

Dunno Cobba, clearing sales are usually commission based on for the cost, only other costs are advertising
Or at least thats what I have found as a vendor, might be different in other states though
Having said that when I have a sale there is no reserve on anything, it always leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths when gear gets passed in and purchasers leave in droves, thats my experience anyway

Hi Paul, last time they had reserves and high ones as my mate was bidding online and when it stalled at some of his bids the items were passed in as not reaching the reserve. Prices being bid were not too far off their value and I mean $20 off its value but were passed in and the auction was really a non event. I know when we had an auction on Pa's house after he had passed away whether it sold or not there were costs to the vendor.

Cobba farm clearing sales might be different than a house, I think as long as the same stock agent that sold farm runs the clearing sale it's commission only
If the farm hasnt been sold it might be a lot different in this case and you may well be spot on with what you are saying
I believe I may have egg on face in this case

I see on the website it says no reserve sale.
I just bought a few lathes, milling machine, gear drill etc at auction for cheaper than scrap price....i reckon they are great.
