Really putting a lot of work into bringing that trailer up to scratch Paul.
Enjoyed watching it all and looking forward to the next stage.
Thinking of your earlier remarks on stability of the chassis tipper - they
can have problems. Operated one for a while, had to watch for a level spot
to tip if possible, and scary when having to spread road base. Lighter prime
mover so was loaded heavy up the hoist end to be legal. Worse on sticky
materials like pug mix road base and binder sand, etc. Stockpiling in the
quarry was dodgy as they would overload the thing. Often had to move a
little over to be more level to tip.
Owner sent me up to his mechanic and we fitted new spring packs on the
rear axle of the tri, and a new hinge pin and bushes. Seems the rear axle
springs cop more weight when tipping, contrary to what you'd think.
So, might be good to pick the best pair of springs for that axle.
Take care, especially on the first tip! Paul.

My leather apron burst open at a centre seam today cutting the tray deck. Stuffed anothyer good shirt aqnd no doubt Dee will remind me about it when she washes it.
I used to load a pair of those tip over axle tri axle trailers in the mid to late 1970's with clay for a few Sydney brickworks. I heard one tipped over sideways once and never saw it back in the pit again. I thik the driver got a bit scared of his side ways trip plus damage to the cab.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

MrsMackPaul you are certainly a very capable man. I could not do even one percent of what you have shown us.

Hi Paul, lovely fabrication work. What do you think of the anti-spatter? I heard but have not tried that silicone spray does similar job. I would be concerned welding with a spray can on the same bench though.
Keep the videos comming as they are excellent to watch and gives us all the encouragement to have a go ourselves at things we normally would farm out.

Thanks for the kind words Morris, I'm just blundering along but my father was a good benchmark to show us kids what could or couldn't be achieved if we really tried
Cobba the anti spatter stuff works and makes a huge difference especially with gasless MIG, I had to weld the spring purchases to the axles with gasless MIG as the wind was blowing flat out and they just cleaned up as good as a stick welder
I used the MIG because the axle is probably high tensile and the spring purchases are definitely along that line other wise I would of need low hydrogen rods

Cobbadog.
Would be a little careful using Silcone spray it could be hazardous.
Silcone can release Hydroflouric Acid when burnt or really heated.
