Strange tyre wear - please help

Triangles have been considered the better of the Chinese brands, and elsewhere on this forum there has been reported bad outcomes from self declared experts. Tube type tyres have been known to get flats on them after sitting around for a while. Crane truck drivers especially have stories of wild rides for morning starts until things warm up and the flats sort themselves out.

So how does she drive now?

Just my 2 cents worth. Steer tyres ALWAYS = Bridgestone.

Dad would not listen, and at great drawn out expense tried Kuhmo, Michelin, and Goodyear all to no avail, then finally Bridgestone. Truck now drives great and we are both happy.

Just my observations and experience.

Brett.

Maybe it's an issue with the tube style. Not sure but alignment guy was not a fan.

Do you have them on the steer?

I do run them on the Steer,, But I use 385/65 Super Singles on the Steer..

The Other that's Important particularly with Steer Tyres is Proper mounting on the Rim..
At the bottom of the sidewall next to the Bead is a Mould Mark Jack the wheel Up & spin It Slowly that Mould Mark should be Parallel or equidistant to the Rim all the way around. The Tyre service I use goes to great trouble to ensure this. After seating the Bead they will completely deflate the Tyre check this & then Inflate to the correct Pressure.. Depending on the experience of the Tyre Fitter I've seen them reseat some beads 2-3 times before been satisfied..!!

Hi Mammoth
It drove a little better but not sure whether that was in my mind or not.
New tyres will make a big difference I'm sure

Thanks Hayseed
That's exactly what the alignment guy was saying too.
He checked it and said it could have been done better.
Looks like I need to find someone who cares enough to take the trouble like you guy does.
Regards
Ash

Steer tyres on Mrs Mack scuff out a bit, the more they scuff out the worse it is to drive

I guess one issue might of been the wheels might not of been dead straight when measuring at the start which might account for the different wheel base from side to side

Hi Paul
It sure has been interesting. I did measure a few different times and got the same result but perhaps wheels were back in the same spot each time.
Do you know anyone who could point me where to get king pins for the old girl?

I would just push them out and take them and the bushes if you cam push them out to and take them to a truck parts place

If they camt help the king will probably be fine, maybe get some new bushes made

Ash, have a good like all over the Axle for casting Numbers & Logos ect..
Denning would've just bought vendor Axles..

Rockwell are by far the most Common Steer Axle, but there are a few other Brands.
