Does anyone have an opinion on the VT 190 Cummins eng?
Could it be fitted into an International 1981 Acco 1910 C ?
What fuel economy could one expect ?
Thank you for any advice.
Maurice.

They are junk.........if your heart is set on a V8 ,get a 3208 Cat.............we had a 1950 with a V8 crummins the thing leaked so much fuel into the oil,the oil would gel on a freezing morning.......traded it on a 1950C with a DT 466 ...the truck is still going nearly 40 years later.

The DT 466 would be the way to go as far as choice of engine.

If you want to keep the truck "model/era correct" you could fit a 6-354.4 Perkins, which would also likely give the best economy of anything.

The turbo 354 ser 4 would be the likely motor.............although I really like the 392 petrols......If I had a truck with free fuel,it would be a tilt cab ACCO with a 392 and 5speed Fuller T53

I think you might be right Paul, i reckon the Phaser was just a tad later and used in the 1850D Acco's, so probably something like 1986 on.

So probably a Neuss would of been fitted to plenty of ACCO'sof that era

Some people don't like the Neuss but I have put many thousands of trouble free hours on them and rate them as good as a 6354 Perkins which to me is up with the best for reliability and cheap to run
I do realize they aren't as clean as a new motor but the turbo versions of both seem to be nice and clean

Yep, 358 Neuss was standard fitment in the 1700 and 1800 series Acco C. The 6-354.4 Perk was an option. I agree that the Neuss are a very reliable engine.

From Foggy Memory the VT190 had a bit better reputation than the 555..
But Your asking about something that 40plus Years Old of which Parts are getting Harder to get by the Day..!!

Just out of Curiousity, is there anything wrong with the 392 currently in your ACCO..??
