That Dennis Ace at Uralla used to have it's brass polished up real shiny. Obviously no longer and going downhill.

All the brass on fire tenders was always highly polished, as was their brass helmets.

Some museums only care about having something there not caring for it.

Hi,

can anyone tell me if this Railway museum is operating?
www.dsrm.org.au/
Dorrigo Steam Railway and Museum Limited

The website hasn't really changed since 2013 where it says not yet open.

Unfortunatly I can't ever see the Dorrigo Rail Museum ever open to the Public. What a great place it would be to hae a look around but just wont happen. Talking to some people at the Tenterfield rail museum and they heard he was still buying carriages. I said they cannot preserve the ones they have now. Over the years I have seen cariages in reasonable condition be converted into firewood only condition because they are sitting out in the open with a cover over the roof which causes sweating and rot.

What is it with Councils and museums.................?

Councils give nothing but grief until a museum hosts a successful community event, then the Mayor is the first person to turn up out of nowhere to get his great goof photographed for the local paper, then he disappears again just as quickly.

In my experience it really is that noticeable.

The amazing collection at Dorrigo can be viewed at a distance from a side road. Casey Jones as he is known is the dominant owner. Any recent arrivals will be from Richards who is behind the outfit at Branxton and similarly has money to spare but in his case not the brains to be easily outwitted by property developers. (transcript of court cases did the rounds recently) I suspect the Dorrigo council are merely passengers looking at a slow train crash, both literally and metaphoricly.
