Have a 5kw unit in the bus. Works like a charm.

There are 3 grades available. European models. about $2k Top End Chinese about $700. Ebay Chinese about $180

I have the top end Chinese unit. The quality is noticeably better than the ebay units. Things like teflon wires, heavier steel, SS furnace fittings and castings. Having said that there are lots and lots ebays fitted in vans and things. Parts are not a problem. All on ebay or aliexpress.

The hardest thing with the cheapies is understanding the manaul. Installation is all the same.

The portable heaters are the same but in a case. You just need to ensure that the exhaust and inlet are ducted safely away. Also, they need a seperate power supply too.

Source: ebay or Aliexpress.

Just one example. www.aliexpress.com/item/4000258352504.html?

And, the most important thing to do is replace the fuel line joiners with proper 3/16 fuel line, The Chinese stuff is single wall rubber crap and it perishes quickly.

The best thing to do is search Chinese Diesel Heaters on youtube.
There is a plethora of videos.

Which model did you buy? (link?)

Geoff,

The general sequence is:

Turn on.
Enable heat mode. - glow starts.
When hot for ignition enought - pump starts. (ticking)
Fan - starts when furnace warms.
Glow stops when hot enough to sustain ignition
Fan speeds up.

Drops into auto or manual model

You need to power first and then enable heater, then start the heat cycle. There are anunciators for each stage. (glow/pump/fan etc)

This video may help.

Before even starting the heat cycle, you need to set the pump (click, click, click) to bring fuel up to the burner. (priming the pump) Once that is done, set the temp setting on the right side, up and down buttons and you good to go.
Good tip is before turning it off is temporarily turn the temp higher so the glow plug will burn off any residue, keeping the thing clean for the next time.

I installed one in our cabin and one in the motorhome. The larger cabin one is mounted externally under the floor while the MH one is install under a sofa.
They run on such a small amount of fuel. The cabin one I've been running every evening @ 23C for 5 hours for the past 2 weeks. It used 600mm of my own bio diesel mix.
Co2 detector is a must.

I gather you just need to know how the remote works.
