Your better to die trying than live on your knees begging
Atkinson cab was created by Mrsmackpaul
Have been asked a question about this truck cab, does anybody know the history behind this style of Atkinson truck cab
It is or was in NewZealand
It isnt a Reinforced Plastics cab or Delta cab from Australia, it isnt a Taylor Hull cab from NewZealand
South Africa also made their own Atkinson truck cabs but none that I have seen look like this
Maybe a Seddon cab ?
Is anyone able to shed some light ?

Looks like the Thornycroft style with metal upper and fibreglass lower.

If Rex is listening can you put up a photo of the Thornycroft you bought from me. From memory that would be close. I only have a rear shot of it on my Volvo after picking it up in Corowa but this big one from memory was not as rounded as the little bloke in Paul's shot but the roof looks more rounded than the Atkinson.

Here is a shot of my Albion the top looks very similar to the Atkinson - made by the same company? Looking at them I would put money on it being the same cab. The doors had PS? or something stamped in the inner panel, Mammoth should be able to tell us what company.

Motor Panels made cabs for a number of pommy companies - Thornycroft, and Guy being the most common, The tops and bottoms were like picknmix steel pressings. However there was a transition to glass fibre with Lang's Trusty having a steel top and a wider glass fibre bottom, Bigger still was a version stuck on the 10' wide Thornycroft Antar. The Atkinson has a homemade look about it and may be a pirate. front screens aren't as deep.
Later on Motor Panels made more modern styled composite cabs for Foden and others.
That version of Albion cab was made by Autolifts for the export market and again occasionally seen on other makes

Yes that is it. It had metal upper and fibreglass lower. I think the doors may have been glass as well.
Only 100hp but I bought it from a couple of old boys at Corowa. It had a huge winch behind the cab and used to tow a float with a D8. A good thing it is flat along the Murray River.
The old bloke apart from telling me they used to check their speed with a calendar said "It is a like a railway cup of tea. Very big and very weak"
