Lorrys' Tray Clean Up

Yep, I haven't bothered you lot for a while about Lorrys' so here is the latest progress. The front load board is now in high gloss 'Delicious Red' by Killrust. The inside of one of the gates is also now red. The light board for the top of the load board is high gloss White and ready to be fitted back on tomorrow I hope. The little bench is also painted and ready to go back on but I might put one last coat of White on it first.
I need to make a start on the back end and ramps by sanding them back to bare metal and make it ready for that Red Oxide metal prime. I must say that this Wattle red Oxide is a water based paint and is exceptionally good and easy to use. Before I used a product by Selleys which I could not fault but has been removed from the market and finally found a replacement for that one, whose name escapes me.
I don't think I will have it all finished in time for the Rusty Iron Rally but will try. At least it will look as if we love him and you can see it is heading in the right direction, looking decent again. Trucker across the road said I won't need any flashing lights ever with this red.

Well I only now have to tidy up the wiring across to the clearance lights and this end is done.

10 Minutes with a bit of sandpaper and a $4 can of black paint on the exhaust would be worth a million dollars.

Dunno if you have had the clearance lights on the hurdle before

I have and found them to make it impossible to see out the mirrors at night

Dunno if you need them on the hurdle or not, guessing not as semi trailers dont have them on the hurdle only under the tray

Looking very red

Hi Paul, I have only driven Lorry twice of a night and they never gave any grief with the light hitting the mirrors. As for legality, last time I checked they had to be up top to denote the height as well as width. Mind you I have never gone back to read the latest set of regs but it is as it was built way back when so I kept them that way.

Time for Vic Rhodes to chime in.....
Had similar issue with marker lights at night so now that we have physicly smaller LED's they get positioned inside the coaming rail and width markers are on the front side of the mirrors.

Kicking myself in the arse today. I never got to put the gloss on the side until after lunch yesterday. Got up this morning and there was a heavy fog and now the gloss is flat as a fart. So much for trying to get a bit more done so it is finished for the Rally.
Anyway I managed to get the 2nd ramp ground back but then forgot about the bar that holds the ramp up, so this is a tomorrow job. Got the top and both sides of the ramp in primer at least. Hopefully tomorrow the underside can be primed as a slight bit of rain is predicted going by my weather woman named Dee.

Good news is your not alone with paint problems, really is the wrong time of year be painting out doors I guess

Every time I have tried either showers of rain or fog like you have mentioned

But as I say to people "anyone can make it shiny but the real trick is to get it like this" as I'm pointing to my mess lol

Good work Cobba
