Job well done cobba, enjoy your travels with head held high. ;)

What is height (from the ground) to top of ramps?

PS Front hubcaps?

The ramps are 3.300 mtrs to the top from the ground. Now a story about them. Before Lorry came to live with us he was a driver trainer truck that also doubled to move small earth moving equipment mainly skid steer. BUT, someone in the Family of the previous owner went to move a bull dozer which as it was being loaded bent the ramps downwards and they left them like that. In order to drive a tractor up the ramps the ramps needed to be moved further apart and I wanted to widen the width of each ramp but putting new wider sections of angle iron. Then the more I thought about them I also wanted to invert the ramps so they arched upwards. Maybe one day I too will be stupid enough to over load the ramps and make them straight again but since having them this way I never want them to be any different. I find when driving David up the ramps the initial climb has his nose in the air but I can easily see the ramps down past my feet. Then as the front wheels go over the mid point I get a good clear look at the tray ahead so I find it a benefit as they are. Only regret is that I did not make the ramps so they could be slid across the back end but since I dont change tractors too often I dont think it is all that important for us. HRH Sarah Ferguson, (Dees Grey Fergy) was a good fit as they are but Sarah has been moved on now. The little Grumpy Dumpy also fits the spacing but he has no weight on the drive wheels so I have to use the winch to get him on and off.
I know that sometimes I do things a little different to most but this is one modification I am happy with.

Cobbadog, That is looking great but I wonder about your term "Short Leg Steps" When I did my National Service in the Army more than half a century ago a "Short Leg" was something we all had but we did not need a step for it.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

On second thoughts it might have been called a "Short Arm' but what ever it was called it did not need steps. It would get up all by itself.

You are thinking of a "short arm inspection" where the Medical Officer goes along inspecting ,,,,,,,,, well, short arms. Usually on return to Australia after a period of overseas "service".

I thought the term "short arms" was for those bastards who forget it is their shout at the bar.

Here we go, the final episode of the tray on Lorry having a tidy up. Woke up and said the weather today is just perfect for spraying those ramps and getting the job finished. Dee was all smiles knowing it was going to be finalised too. So I put Lorry in the assumed position for spraying his long legs and gave them a quick wipe over and a roughen up ready to spray. Got everything out to spray, from the spray gun, turps, paint, rag. stirring stick, can opener and fired up the compressor. Extra air line coupled up and was time to mix the paint. SH!T, not enough to finish the job. So I mixed what was there that made a 500ml pot up and applied that to the top side of the ramps. Cleaned the spray gun up and went to Taree for more paint. Came back and got straight back into it and positioned the ramps so I could paint the end sections underneath on both ramps then pushed the ramps up placing some angle iron between the tray and the ramps then finished off the bottom of both ramps. So now they are out there sun baking and are touch dry now but will take a long time to fully cure.
Forgot one thing today to cover up the whiskers, so they now have a tinge of red in them that could pass for being pink. And before anyone asks, NO I am not going to the Mardi Gras.

Cobba,

If that's a problem shave them off and she can take them in the shower by herself.
