Maybe Rich, bloody weather has caused me delays like you wouldn't believe
Have about 600 acres of lake frontage and the tide went out a inch

Saturday night we got a inch of rain so I don't think we are making any progress at all

Could always be worse, could be using a old fridge van as a ark
My cattle trailer axles have been getting a good bath for a while now so they will be nice and clean when I get back to them
The Federal has very clean tyres on the bottom as well

As I said things could always be worse if I compare myself to a lot of peoples flood woes at the moment

When Lorry came home to live with us he had 4 of those bloody load binders and I don't like them so under the bench they went, I think. Purchased new chains and those ratchet turnbuckle types of binders and then half a dozen ratchet straps. So I'm covered with anything I can think of that I want to carry.

This one is a bit different

This one is good with the capacity to put a locking pin in for absolute safety.

This one used in conjunction with a short wire rope leader with chain claws each end

Chain type

A lighter unit

Many and varied are the dogs shown on here, BUT where is the dreaded ''long handled dog''' of yore?

Also have some of them with a handle about 3 feet long at a guess

I assume that is what your thinking of

I have film of my Grandfather using these on the log truck

When Grandma was going into the nursing home and their house was getting cleaned out and sold

I was asked of anything I would like and Pa's dogs and chains was meantioned if no one else wanted them

I was surprised at just how how well test his chains were, quite a few links welded up

The claws on the chains are fabricated steel

There is one chain with great big hooks, at a guess maybe 12 inches long and 6 inches deep in the hooks
This joined in the middle by another home made device to pull from the center

Pa could not weld so I am guessing the saw mill made them for him

The hooks on the dogs are made of flat plate

It is those ratchet dogs I went with on Lorry when or if I use chains. I have the small old style ones that have a heap of wear on them and probably unusable in the scrap metal pile.
