External contracting hand brake

I have a Bedford with a heart transplant from a butter box. This includes a Joey box with an external contracting hand brake. For some reason NSW inspectors made the previous owner change the handbrake from the cable acting on both rear wheels to use the transmission brake on the back of the Joey. As most of you would be aware this is a true parking brake and not an emergency brake being designed to be applied to a stationary vehicle. Anyway I’m currently stuck with this setup and have a QLD COI to complete and they will expect this brake to work. Does anyone have details and schematics of how to adjust this brake?

I cannot understand that .....the Girling wedge handbrake on pommy trucks is the ONLY effective stopper short of spring maxis ..........IMHO the IH bands are a shocker .........they will just about rip the tailshaft out for around one day from new ,then a few drops of oil ,and there is no (as in zero) effect ..........If you haven lost the brakes in a single hydraulic line truck going downhill to a busy intersection, you havent lived...............Some Bedfords used to have a massive big disc brake on the tailshaft that would at least hold while parked ............Anyhoo,it would be fix the Girlings for me............thesde brakes are tricky to set up,and you must understand how they work.

Funny, I registered an ICV in 2012 and I had to remove the tail-shaft brake (Nissan Patrol transfer) and fit a second set of (trailer) callipers to the rear discs.
Just show's the "Authorities" have no idea.
