INTER-esting daysWell, we’ve got the “ Mack ......... nothing but Mack topic ”, the “ -:Kentworth:- ” topic, and the “ Frauline Friday ” topic, so I thought it was time for a topic only about Internationals. IH was, after all, probably the biggest manufacturer of trucks in Australia and also made some of the most iconic trucks (R190, Transtar, later model Atkinson, ACCO and ACCO 3070 in particular, etc). There are a few historical topics on here that cover some of those models, but not a topic to post photos, videos and stories about anything and everything Inter - until now.I’m going to kick it off with this newspaper add I found this week on a page torn from the DAILY TELEGRAPH April 17, 1967 edition, and stuffed between the pages of a book that had belonged my father-in-law. No idea what his interest was taken by on the page, but this ad drew my interest.  The ad describes the truck as F-1800D. A couple of interesting points (to me) is they don’t refer to it as a Loadstar (which is what I thought that shape was called) and I don’t think any of those emblems on the bonnet say Loadstar. Also photos of F-1800 Loadstars I have seen have a bulge in the side of the bonnet to hold the air cleaner. I don’t know what year they started selling the Loadstar, but maybe this was their initial offering and they hadn’t decided on using the Loadstar monika.

Please feel free to contribute anything INTER-esting you would like to share on this topic too, and I will also try to put something up every week to keep the content INTER-esting.

    Great topic
Stolen from various places over the years.
I know I've got the ABD 184 and the AB184 possibly wrong way round. The Cummins is definitely ABD 184 & the other may be petrol.
I recall something about the F1800 and Loadstars but can't recall it now.
Don't forget pics of early Transtars, not to be confused with DCF 400 series either
And I think we also saw some BCF series.
    Cheers

The F1800D s had a GM 6V53 ,5x3 Fuller trans ,IH bogie on hendrickson ,and probably most important full air brakes ......all the other Loadstars were V8 petrol, hydraulic brakes ,and the odd Eaton bogie where the back diff ran backwards........the tailshaft did anyway.

Some years ago, I went on an HCVCA weekend where one of the places we visited was the collection of Dairy equipment and International trucks displayed by a man whose name was Nation. I think he was an ex-dairy farmer.  His interest in Internationals was because as he said, it had his name in the middle of it, as in interNATIONal. few years later, he passed away and his sons had a clearing sale of it all.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
    my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
    I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Thanks for the Inter topic Scout. Here's one I prepared earlier. 1934 C1 1/2 ton, built in Chicago and the body was built in South Melbourne by Alf Mitchell.

Mrsmack, that “sounds like” a great piece of IH memorabilia. Looking forward finding out a bit more. If you thought it was worth the effort and wanted to share the recording, just take a video of it playing (with the sound turned up) and then post it via your you tube channel.
