Many years ago IH released a booklet each quarter to show what was going on around the world, or just Australia
Some cracking photos and right ups in them
I managed to collect a few over the years
So these two photos are from a story on the first Cummins powered AB's in either north QLD or maybe just QLD
Anyway the more astute viewer will say " but Paul they can't be Cummins powered as they still have the V badge on the front guard, or they don't have duck air cleaners, or no step tanks
Anyway the article was about the first Cummins powered AB's and these were featured trucks

Swishman the are cane trucks for hauling whole stick cane
Always loaded cross ways
The Nuffield tractor can be seen pushing the empty trucks on
These trucks ran between Clare and Delbeg in the Burdekin before the cane tramway was extended to Millaroo
There is some big creeks to cross on it's way there
So there was sidings on the farns further up and the cane trucks would of been dropped there before been collected by a haulout , tractor and trailer
These trucks shuttled the cane trucks between the siding near Clare and the farmers siding
The cane then was taken by tramway to Invicta mill at Giru
International Harvester had a few goes at getting into cane harvesting with varying results
Some not so good others better
Theres a book called "Their all half carzy" about sugar cane harvesting in Australia

Great pics Mrs
Now-what was the difference between AB 182 & 184?
Was it only Cummins, step tanks and snorkel?
Or were there different brakes, springs etc?
Cheers

The 182 had a petrol motor ,either 345 or 264 ,and a #3 Eaton diff ,and T 34 synchro box.............the 184 had a 345 ,T53 box and a #4 Eaton diff...........you coud also get a 354 Perkins in either truck which was fitted by a IH shop and the petrol motor credited ....Inters had the small 6 cylinder Cummins from the early 1950s ,the L&R 190 could have a supercharged Cummins C 200.
