Rapid Deflation of the near-side steer tyre?
No it hasn't happend to me (well not for 20 years @ 5kph turning into a street)
What do the ol experienced drivers say
off the gas pedal ........ Brake and wrestle with the steerin to try n control the beast
OR
If a steer tire on a truck blows out, the truck will pull towards the side of the blown tire, and it's crucial to maintain a straight course. To do this, apply full throttle and gently correct the steering to keep the truck in its lane. Once you regain control, gradually slow down and pull over to a safe location.

One of Serafins trucks blew a steer on the Gold Coast Highway at Coomera ..........went across four or five lanes of oncoming cars and ended up off the road .....never hit anyone , a miracle .......another time he was following one of his trucks and a cap blew off and wiped out the front of his fancy 4x4 ........he claimed new tyres cost too much to use on tippers . ......One time he was paying toll on the Gateway Bridge ,and a truck ran into the back of him .......pushed his 4x4 100 metres up the road......he was lucky not to be killed.

One time Wally Carpenter came into the sandblasters in a 8 wheel Leader ........smell of burning brake lining ............I asked if his brakes were dragging .........he says have a look at the steer .......half of one front brake was outside the drum..........he says the wheel keeps falling off ......the axle nuts stripped ...can I borrow your welder.?........and he welded it up and drove off.

I am with option number two!! Especially if you have a Jake to help with the slow down.. On and Off the throttle as needed..

Happened to me after going through a village and cruising up to speed. Bobtail. Hardly got to 90 when nearside went bang. Twitched to the right but as I had a hold of the wheel wasn't much but glad of no oncoming traffic. Steady brake onto a handy section of sealed hard shoulder. Getting the jack under the axle took a few bites, and I just happened to have strapped a spare on deck for the journey. Post mortem revealed that tyre had been recut.

Regroved tyre on the steer is a pretty gutsy move

Mercedes 2632 when steer tyre blew folded mudgaurd up under cab and truck veered to side the flat tyre was. Happened to me twice and once with passenger helping could not steer against the pull and ran off the road before stopping luckily in open country. Other time was on my own and went slowly across the road and just before went over bank lock ring and tyre came off so I could hold it on road with sparks going everywhere

I had a front deflate once when the rim crept round and cut off the valve stem ....... had a lock ring blow off on the front at low speed...........burst a front tyre on the little Leyland when I hit a massive pothhole near my yard at Willawong.

Louie, it wasn't apparent that the wide fronts had been regrooved until after the incident. Needless to say the one on the other side got ditched pronto.
