Dream project was created by Andy Wright
We all have varying ways and means of enjoying the old truck scene but let's assume you had unlimited resources (including time!) to restore whatever old truck you wanted to.
What truck would it be? Is there a type you've always wanted to own and drive or is there a certain rust bucket that you think deserves better? What about a particularly historic truck that should be saved (or should have been saved)?
For me, an A or E model Mack and an LAD-cabbed Leyland Octopus tipper - love Macks and the Occy would be a tribute to my grandfather who owned two small mines in Tassie and used an LAD-cabbed Occy, Reivers and Hippos (and some Ergo-cabbed trucks) for haulage.

Well the dream project (other than finishing all the half done projects :)
While not a truck as such but still a commercial vehicle! Would be a Fowler Showmans traction engine and of course has to have a set of gallopers. Like Quo Vardis recently in New Zealend (see www.maciulaitis.com/burrell_rally/burrell.html ) from england. Came all the way from England for a rally . The only problem with Quo Vardis is it is a Burrel! I would prefer a Foden showman's but they are very rare so will be happy to put up with a Fowler!

Deadly,
Don't believe that it was at tassie as the marry go round or as they call them (believe there is some sort of difference) gallopers came over from england also. Probably the biggest difference between this marry go round and what I have seen in Australia is that this one is electric not steam and is being run from the generator on Quo Vardis.
Andy,
Don't need a truck normally the gallopers backs away into a trailer towed behind the showmans engine and road run from site to site! Usually ends up being two trailers one being for all the outside parts and one forms the centre of the ride.
However could take a while to travel the large distance in Australia! :
Not sure what a road loco's top speed is but wouldn't expect much more than 20Km/hr max!

Give the Grey Ghost and Bruce's garden tractor a run for their money then.
In today's world, when you get the Fowler or Foden ( ), you'll have to get a truck capable of carrying it/them...just spending your money for ya!
