Meanwhile back at the boat ....can you actually get a screwdriver onto the rocker cover screws? Looks like the motor would have to be lifted to get at the valve adjusters

There's a lot more room around them than you think. All the floors around them lift up as well as the open deck area to access the propshaft stern glands.Meahwhile forward in the lower saloon there's a set of steps that hinge up easy front of the engines work, like the keel cooled waterpumps and the seawater pumps which cool through the exhaust.
These were a well known production flybridge sports fisher boat built by Cresta during the 70's and 80's. They were the most successful design built in Sydney but started on the mid north coast.
Most had the 6354 H Perkins or 6354 HT H being code for horizontal and T for turbo.
I did look at this one but it had cabin modifications (in the 90s) to fit 2 upright Volvo TAMD 60A truck engines in. The cabin was lengthened and the cabin floor raised for the install.
