Rapier W90 Walking Dragline

The Morris boys sent me some pics of MSTEC's (Melb Steam and Traction mob) dragline being hauled out of the Hazelwood coal mine late last week.

Don't suppose anyone was out and about at 0200 Sunday morning and caught the trucks and escort on the M1 and then up Ferntree Gully Rd way? I was up at that time but heading to the airport to drop Jodi off (heading to India to shoot old trucks for me...and visit a mine )

Excellent, thanks Bruce. Looks like Warwick was rather pleased with himself although that RR on the back might come in handy!

Aaron Morris has given me permission to post his pics of the combination coming out of the mine so I'll get those up here soon.

Hot off the camera. Went down during lunch to get photos of the unloading. And was already done! But got some photos anyway of the trucks etc.

Truck Number 1 was Kenworth. The GCM was rated as 200000K (thats alot of 0's)

Might have to come down, JB, with my father-in-law, as we had planned another expedition that weekend but have had to postpone it. I might be wearing shorts so keep an eye out! Actually, might do the jeans so I can clamber about a bit.

I'll consult the Melways (developing some good muscles from reading it).

The dragline? yes very easy to find. Won't fit in the sheds

As for the club heading from stud Rd along Ferntree Gully rd towards the city. The club is just on the other side of the eastlink bridge.

Amazingly, JB, I actually recognise the roads you're talking about and almost know what you mean! Almost a local...
