Does anybody know if the 10 speed splitter gearbox in the Mitsi FM-215's was overdrive or not ?

No. These are the latest specs on the box but it was still called a M8S2 x 5 back in the 90s so I assume that gears are the same though should never assume anything with equipment

Transmission Model M8S2 x 5
Type 10 forward, HI - LOW spliter gear, 2nd-5th range: synchromesh gears
Transmission Ratio 1st High/Low 7.462 / 10.060
2nd 4.036 / 5.441
3rd 2.230 / 3.006
4th 1.344 / 1.811
5th 0.741 / 1.000
Reverse 7.420 / 10.002

Thanks for that.
Your info sheet doesnt tell you what SAE the clutch housing is does it ?.....That'd be real handy.

Hi Barry,

I just found an info sheet on a much later model on the internet:
www.th.mitsubishi-fuso.com/PDF/mitsu%20f...n/EN/FN627MSRDH5.pdf

The only thing it says with the clutch is:
Hydraulic control, coil spring type, single dry plate with air pressure assistance

An old Truch Search magazine from the early 90s I've got laying around says they were using the M8S2 x 5 box then.

Cheers,
Joe

Baz,

Next time I'm over at my uncle's place at Gulgong, I will get a photo of the engine and gearbox assembly in a FM215 a neighbour sold my uncle and a friend!
