But the truck came off second best.
The second trailer was ripped off the truck's rig and left standing on its end against the bridge.
Dash cam footage of the crash caught by a trailing driver shows the truck’s trailer completely raised before hitting the Doherty’s road bridge in Laverton North about midday.

Police are still investigating and ask anyone who saw the incident or has dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
VicRoads confirmed that there was one lane open as staff worked to clear the wreckage. The accident is affecting traffic "fairly significantly", according to a VicRoads spokesman.
“There are delays currently back over the West Gate bridge and pushing back to the Bolte Bridge heading outbound," he said.
"Drivers can expect delays of up to 45 minutes."
The area is expected to be cleared by 4.30pm, but heavy traffic will continue into the afternoon.
