I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

It's a pity you didn't bring them in last week. I used my last two patches of that size just a couple of days ago.:woohoo: :woohoo:

The driver was probably distracted by watching the crowd lined up for their dole money.

Several rail-over-road bridges are struck regularly. They matched the standards of the era when built, but standards have changed.
Flinders St Viaduct above the Flinders St & Spencer St intersection is frequent, but above King St and Market St must have better clearance. Ringwood is rare.
Two really should have the road lowered, but 'big build' isn't doing that: no glamour.
* Montague St (South Melbourne). This replaced a level crossing in about 1917. VicRoads worries about flooding if the road is lowered.
Napier St (Footscray). This replaced a level crossing in the late 1950s. As a main access to the port, it gets a lot of container trucks. Lowering may carry a flooding risk, and would steepen the slope on the western side, which could impact on stability around the roundabout. In the 1960s & 70s, Somerville Rd road-over-rail and Francis St road-under-rail were designed for full clearance, but local campaigns have blocked truck access for many hours of each day.
Lots of blame is placed on drivers of self-hire vans, and on overseas imports on temporary permits not being aware of their vehicle height.

If it was a Volvo with cross locks ,he could have just backed out and shot thru before the cops came......Looks like it was only a couple of meters too high.
