I`ve got to agree about Volvo, they where the death of White, and the new Macks are half Volvo now.It won`t be long.Whats the difference between sticking your hand down your pants,or your mates seeing you in a Volvo? You feel a bigger dick when your mates see you in a Volvo.

I got an interest in quarrying cos i currently work at the Boral quarry in Montose. Years ago way before my time it was a Bayview quarry. Our so the old timers tell me. And the Ashphalt Looks the same as we got now. It was built in the 60's. Its always good to see how things where done back in the day.

g'day jnr mack my father had a bedford tipper at boral he started in 1958 when they were called REID BROS& REID then latter ALBION REID. I remember a quarry at tullamarine which i think was aBAYVIEW quarry. the old quarry at niddre was FOWLER QUARRIES and next door toALBION REID'S REGAL quarry in duke st braybrook was MCGRATH QUARRIES who also had asand pit in langwarren.they were the same company who built trailers in brunswick road. I grew up in the old tk bedford with its 330 diesel 5spd crash box 2spd bedford diff . most of the oldies would remember it for its single wheel pusher axle ithink only John Day had one too.

Hi all,

I have recently joined the forum and have an interest in tippers & mixers (or agi trucks, as you call em).
I was wondering if any members have any pictures or memories of the pink Readymix fleet /Farley & Lewers from the 1970s,80s + 90s that they would like to share.

Also, any tippers working on hotmix, asphalt or sand & gravel work.

I'm particularly interested in any Volvo F86, Volvo G88, Scania, Leader, Atkinson 3800 or any British gear, especially ERFs.

Thanks very much.

Mark

Mark,

Have you got Rob Laurent's amazing Leader Trucks book???

If so go down to the bottom of page 80 - Farley & Lewers' pink and white LF8 is featured there!

Joe
