Dayton Muncie Turntable was created by HeyCharger
Hi Guys,
I have a Dayton Muncie turntable on my Mack B61.
I think some locking plate (that holds the release lever in position) is missing.
The hole is threaded and just above the lever is plate that is flush with the turntable at one end and at the other it comes out approx 1/2".
Does anyone know what the "missing plate/bracket" would loook like?
Thanks. Rod.

Not sure wot I'm lookn @ with out seein the hole picture
ifn U brave n got a good volunteer
U should check out the "how it works"
Please count all fingers B 4 n after the following procedure
get volunteer to pull the lever right out, there should B a spring resistance
then try n close the jaws of 5th wheel by hand or F.B. Bar
while holding jaws in closed position slowly relese the lever to C ifn it will lock the jaws
if it has locked may B imagine a steel tab hanging down from said bolt hole
Q:? would this tab prevent the lever moving forward to the unlock position?
If so then make up a tab with a rounded top edge so it will pivot on bolt
a 3/8 - 1/2" piece of steel with a bolt only dun up hard enuff to allow gravity to return tab to the lowered locked position
Ifn U can understand the above
Please xplain it to me
LOL

Hi Swishy,
The mechanism works fine. ie I can couple and uncouple to trailers.
(Hey. I think I may just slowly be getting the hang of these photos )
I was just thinking today that there was probably a safety plate that bolted to stop the lever from vibrating forward to the unlock position.
Your suggestion re the tab I think is close to the mark.
Rod.
ps There has to be a reason for that little ramp on the right hand side of the bolt hole

I cant really follow your photos but i think some safety catch may be missing there. I was warned once to be careful of the old type greasy plate turntables. Dont know the brand but the release handle went back and forwards ie not in and out like the modern ones.
This fella lost a recap on the drive, which took out the mudflap which caught the handle and dropped his trailer on the highway.

Thanks atkipete. Yes, your scenario would certainly happen on my turntable, as it is now. That's why I think there is a part missing.

Thanks Andy. Unfortunately, the float is not mine. It belongs to another member who allows me to use it. But I agree, it looks good behind the old girl.Classy looking combination you've got now, Rod. Well done.
