I think the Leylands were assembed here, probably in Footscray. There is a fellow in the club who used to work for them, will talk to him at the next meeting, he doent have a computer.

Be it firearms or V8 engines, the question is not "why should you have them?"
, but "who are you to demand that I justify them?"

... thinking of doing a replica of the '77 London To Sydney Marathon truck

damn it's a small world ... and it just got a bit smaller

Was down at the riverfront with daughter and grandkids etc ...

Bloke pulls up astride his antique motor-sickle;- local high school teacher. known him 20+ years, taught the kids at high school. We even played Hockey together.

He started asking me about the truck ,,, I'm thinkin "hmmmm does he wanna buy it? ... borrow it? ... "

Nope

His father drove the original Coke rally truck! 8-)

::) all this time searching for info on the net and all I needed to do was walk 327 metres and sit in his lounge chair ;D
He has heaps of pics etc, and his father is still alive and kicking and living in Adelaide. :)

Completed the Hills run with only some minor glitches. (Turn indicators decided to take a rest occasionally)
Second day of the run she went noticeably better up the hills so I guess the rings sorta needed to re-seat themselves a bit after 6 years of mostly sitting with just the occasional start-up.
460 kms on about 150 litres of fuel ... not as good as she used to be, so a bit more tuning needed. No choke needed to start so running a bit rich.

Ran the 9.00 r 20s on the back.

Looked a bit odd with the 16s on front, but did the job. 95kph on the highway 8-)
'course one bloke seemed quite perturbed about it ::) ... preached at me for about 10 minutes about it not being the way the vehicle was sold, and how I was losing out on power availability for towing and hill climbing and ... blah blah ... ... :D him with his little beddy on widened chromed rims and tom tom on the dash :P ;D ;D ;D

sounds like you had the critics summed up and took the appropriate notice. So she handled the bigger tyres ok?

yeah she loves'em 8-)

Already done two trips myself (near 4,000km) on them, and m'brother's mate took her over to Perth on them as well, so I had no doubts.
'tis about 25 kph difference @ 3000 RPM so the choice is obvious ;) on the 16s 1st gear gets all sad and lonesome coz it's almost never used ... mostly 2nd gear starts

Now I gotta start gettin serious about finding a couple more ::)

Anyone know if it's still legal to run re-drilled rims?
