BK, thanks for the pics mate, excellent.
Hi BK, that last lot of photo's brings tears to me eyes with all that mud, oh boy, nothing but bad memories of being stuck in $hite like that.
The good old "Blue Heeler" pub, just as I remember it, no air-con then, open the doors and windows for cooling, best tasting beer in Aust, after all that dirt just to get to it.

ps- keep 'em coming, that lot is pure gold, it's brilliant.

g'day bk ,all the drivers at the kynuna pub were regulars at mum&dads place in katherine , did many a trip down to bris at christmas time and back home sadly most of the boys are no longer with us steve
I knew some of those blokes too, I subbied for Swires in '72, as did Bunney and Peter Radke, Terry was carting flour up there then, Snow Olds is long gone now. Ray Mantova was VRD tpt. that many names and no idea of where they are now, Billy Cole, Jimmy Oliver, the "Michelin man" from Darwin, and a whole heap of others I'd met at the old 3 Ways.
Swish, I only have a few of the early ones mate.
Trust me

Greenie, I don't think it's changed much, I was there late last year, the blurry light is the sign in the shape of a dogs head, bloody mozzies nearly carried me away.
Hi Cam, the old pubs been done up over the years, added air-conditioning to the joint, added windows and repainted over all the graffiti/messages hand scribbled onto the walls of the bar ( excellent reading whilst you killed an hour or two ) and they have generally tidied the place up.
It just don't have the same friendly atmosphere, that the joint had, back in the late 70's early 80's.

Ah well, at least they still have the mossie problem, gov regs couldn't do a an 'effin thing' to ever cure that lot.

The Phantom 309 was a yank truck song, I think John Laws did a version of it too.
