Never an option Swishy, the early ones had 5 3/4", like yours, later had 7" round.
The rectangle headlights came out on the Anteaters (T600) and the paint and panel shops used to do the ugly mod to SAR's and W models to update the look.

correct me if i'm wrong CAM but i think there was a model with square lights in the late 90s, was it a anniversary model, there seemed to be too many around to be add on's. jk

W-models including SARs and K100CR never had square headlights. They started with square headlights in the late 80s on the T-model range (if thats what you'd call them) T450,T600,T650, and earlier with the K100E.Not sure if they were a option and remember hearing a story that Kenworth couldn't get a suffient supply of these square lights so they had to go with the round lights on some.Don't know if there's any truth to that.
So not all these models had square headlights
Cheers James.
ps later the T900s also had both headlights.

Knighty, you might be right, though all the ones I've seen are mods. I think the T 600 was the first bonneted KW, and when the K 100's came out, some of them had them. As far as I knew the W model, SAR, K 123/4/5 all had round.
Be good question for Detective I reckon.......
The bonnet on the Mack looks odd, has it had an aftercooler added? or has it got a different motor?

..could it be an R700 series that has had its original bonnet totally trashed and two R 600 bonnets have been joined and the ''new'' bonnet adapted to the set back cab ?

the mudguard arch just seems way too long as well..

Rang him tonight to satisfy the curiosity (ya know what it did to the cat), lengthened the bonnet 7 inches to fit a 400 cummins and behind that runs a mack 5 speed with a 3 speed joey, must do a bit of serious stuff, i passed him the other day pulling a quad drop deck. jk
