swishy, i cannot see any reason for anyone to get that coming up.

the only time that should come up is when an admin chooses to put it up or when some of the maintanence options are being run. to my knowledge none of these things are being done at the moment.

might be worth clearing out your internet cache.

the maintenance mode was me for 30 seconds accidentally while trying to sort the issue. The multiple PMs people sent were not really needed (or appreciated) either.

Once an issue is reported 20+ notifications or posts about it do not resolve the issue any faster - it just gets in the way.

JBlair has now fixed the problem and explained what it was. I now know how to fix it next time

I get that on occasion when posting, Swish but I think it just depends on my computer at the time. Always make a habit of copying the text of my post so I can avoid typing it out again. Probably just my settings.
