g'day all .. there's not too much to worry about as these old girls are aluminium cab and very high quality steel single rail chassis ..

they look as rough as guts, but would respond well to a ''few bob'' thrown at them, and all parts or problems can still be addressed from all the stuff that's over in the 'states ...cheers :) :)

Heres a left hooker 352 Peterbilt 1979, in New Zealand, that I own, truck was imported, for a Polytech, that had students learn how to do brakes, maintenance, etc. Uncle brought it, swapped it for a Kenworth, and that guy took the 350 Cummins and gearbox out for a w-model Kenworth, and I brought without motor. We have a v8 Cummins for it, and as its a left hooker, truck will be used as a yard truck, and do the odd show, promoting our truck painting and signwriiting business. Truck will feature visor, twin stacks, and aircleaners, lower bumper, bullet lights, etc, and custom paint job. Go to the Modern Trucks page of this Forum, and go to Truck Signage, and you will see what we get up to down here.

There was a Peterbilt COE getting around a few years ago, black and gold I think, and the bloke used to shift helicoptors and planes. I'm not sure there was much business. I thought I last saw it a few Months ago at Hemmant in Brisbane. Some bloke has a yard on the creek near the road to the Port of Brisbane and has all sorts of trucks and trailers in it. I'm sure the Pete turned up there and was stripped of its chromes bits, hopefully for a repaint but I think it might have been for the parts as I haven't seen it emerge again.

Possibly another Pete COE in a yard off Musgrave Road at Archerfield ( Brisbane ). It's a workshop and has all sorts of old jiggers turn up for repairs. The COE is grey or faded blue. All I see is the back of the cab, and thinking it is either a Pete or possibly White/Freighliner and a small sleeper or daycab.

I think there used to be one COE doing sugar cane haulage in Maryborough Qld some years ago, possible white with green strip. I'll investigate further.
