I didn't have a mate with a large break down truck to get my Dodge home so this is how I shifted it the necessary 700kms
The Great Wall did the job with a little nursing and coaxing.
Not sure if the combination was legal but I wasn't stopped so I consider that the exercise was completed legally

Is the Great Wall Great or wot?
Probably worth a post on its own but here is my explanation
To put it into perspective. I own a 40 acre property 3 hours south of Perth.
The Great Wall lives there most of the time.
I only go down on weekends and to get there I drive a 5 series Beemer
The previous ute was another Great Wall (V240 Petrol) This one is a V200 diesel.
I bought the first Great Wall because the 1993 Ford Courier died after only a quarter of a million miles. I think it lazed up with all the short running :'(
The petrol Great Wall wouldn't stay engaged in top gear on cruise control and the seal around the window blew out :-X
I have always preferred diesels (Dad was a diesel mechanic)
When I bought the first Great Wall the diesel version in the ute wasn't available.
When I sold the Inter for a $5000 profit I decided to get the diesel Great Wall. At $23,000 thats what you get $23,000 worth of ute.
It is a two litre common rail turbo engine. I am told it is based on a Fiat diesel design but I can be corrected on that.
As to performance it has the worst turbo lag I have ever encountered and it has a flat spot at low revs, but when it gets going it performs OK, but remember it is only a $23,000 vehicle.
It has a six speed box and it appears that fifth is a low range overdrive and sixth is a high range overdrive. On a decent hill I was dropping to fifth and if I did that before the revs dropped more than 200revs it would go over the hill OK if you left it to late then it was all the way down to fourth in no time.
I bought it to cart the few sheep I have around from time to time and to pick up some feed for them from time to time (hay and pellets). When not stuffing around with old Dodges and Fordson Tractors I breed Multi Purpose Merions (MPMs), so the Great Wall fulfills a function adequately given the size of the property I own and the work I have for it to do. It also does the odd excursion like picking up the old Dodge and will probably do excursions like that again from time to time.
Would I buy another? Well if it lasts three years it has probably paid for itself, but if I was a serious farmer or had a requirement for a ute that I wanted to use almost full time then I would probably buy a Landcruiser with the V8 diesel, but I cant justify the expense.
The ute that I would like to check out is the Foton that is supposed to be coming out with the Chinese built Cummins ISF engine in it, but it looks like that may be a way off even though the Foton 4.5 tonne truck with the 3.8 litre ISF is available in Australia now.
In summary the Great Wall serves a purpose, I have fitted a tow bar, Cruise control, CB radio and decent Spot lights on it. It does the job that I require and it makes me appreciate the Beemer a lot when I get into it to drive back to Perth. (The Beemer is a twin turbo common rail two litre diesel but there is a world of difference in performance
)
It is better than the previous petrol Great Wall I will give it that and it is cheap

This model (2012) also looks better than the previous model that has to be something
Hope that summary provides some of the answers that you seek.
Happy to provide more information or answer more questions
