Mack T2060 6 speed was created by Ronny G
I recently inqired about gear ratios for this box, which we have now fitted to my R600.I am pleased with it as it gives me a lower 1st. and reverse than the old 5 speed box with the ability to do 100 KPH at about 1450 RPM in 5th.Can anybody tell me how to use it? Starting off in low 1st. and spliting up to high is ok.It looks as though going back to low third from high second would be an advantage then high third, but not in the other gears. The question is am I supposed to be able to split third and how? Pre selecting makes a lot of noise so is obviously not right. Any ideas.
Thanks Ron :D :P

The 2060 box is just as it says 6 speed
You split lo gear to hi then just use the other 4in Hi.
it is not a splitter box in the top 4 gears. But i may be wrong...

You are certainly not wrong, old dog! The T2060 had a 5-speed plus reverse main box combined with an air operated 2-speed. As has been said, this 2-speed was NOT a splitter as the ratios did not give splits between the main gears. The Mack instruction label said something like:

SHIFT SEQUENCE Lo 1, Hi 1, Hi 2, Hi 3, Hi 4, Hi 5

Lo Range is to be used in 1st and Reverse gears only

The rockets we had at Transwest had 5 on one stick.
On the other stick, reverse, high and low.
Split low if you had to, as everyone else has said..
They were behind 237s.

There were a couple of air splits same as above, all on the knob.

Reckon there was some 320 coolpowers with 12 speed air splits too..

I might be wrong though, it was a while ago now....

chocs 8-)

So Vic, ya don't think 6 in reverse with the dynatard on was the go when backing up to the heap to tip off? ::)

Yep, I've driven Macks with that box too, Choc, and the 5 reverse gears were great. However the T2060 was different, it had Reverse on the main stick.

I've never driven a 6 speed Mack box, but I thought they had 2 levers. I think there was interlock to stop you using the split lever once it out of first gear that I think some bloke took out so they could split the other gears. But I could be wrong there, Murranji would know I reckon.

I have driven the 5 and 10 speeds, the 10 speed has the splitter neutral and reverse on the knob and the 5 gears on the stick. The 12 speeds have 2 levers with the same knob as a 10 speed with the split neutral and reverse on it, and the second lever as the low gear, like a 6 speed with a splitter.

I think Mack have made more models of gearboxes than the years you and I have been alive, Cam. The T2060 and T2070 ones I have seen had a pull-up knob for the air change 2-speed mounted on the gearstick like the old RR range-change or deep reduction buttons. The 2070 was a 7-speed in which you used Lo and Hi in Reverse, 1st and 2nd only.
