I wonder what they sounded like?

The exhaust stacks look impressive, but would probably make that load of hay bales catch on fire!

They could have spent a few more dollars on the mirrors too

G'day all , I just googled " gas turbine trucks" to see if there was any details on their performance. It said the Ford truck had a 600 HP engine and in a demo run across the US it averaged 2.9 mpg ! :o.
There was more details on a website called ' biglorryblog' and said that even Leyland built one.
They also said there is a new turbine engine under development called a " detonation cycle turbine engine " they provided a youtube link so you could see and hear it running.
You will notice the operator puts earmuffs on first , the sound, er, noise this thing makes, I think I would rather go deaf listening to my 6V53 at full noise than that thing :D

G'day again , I don't mean to divert people away from the HCVC website, but that BigLorryblog, website has some interesting , though mainly European / UK stuff on it.
I noticed Atkipete and Huppypuppy have both contributed to it .
And Now back to And Now !
