Whats a SAR Kenworth worth?

Hi there, I went and spoke to the guy today, the truck was cold and started up quiet easily, I checked the aircleaner pods and the drain tubes were dry, Once it had full oil pressure I gave it a full throtle rev like you suggested and it sounded fine and surprisingly very little soot out of the stacks. The air compressor is noisy though, I made him an offer today but he didnt want to come to the party or even negotiate, see what happens he might come around. Looks like I am on the hunt for another truck.

what do you want to do with the truck?if your not going to work the thing id reccomend keeping the detroit in it for authenticity.they are a very misunderstood engine,people bag them because they have made a mess of many driveways.theyre an old design engine and theyve put many a different brand of engine to shame out on the highway in their day.please dont be to hastily with peoples advice,if the thing starts and runs without any hassles,why do an engine swap?.how messy are the air box drains?how hard is it to start?oil pressure?when you start it,as soon as you have normal oil pressure,give it full throttle breifly,if you have pre ignition(death rattles)the engines getting tired.try these simple tests under cold start conditions and it will help you determine the condition of your engine.hope this helps you.

howdy pockets, most comments were on the money,i'd reckon about 15 to 20 mark, if its reasonable, they usually start up well even if they're sick, the main indicator is what oil is coming out the air box drains when they're been running for a while, but ya gotta take a chance if ya want it, reckon for that year model its a 8\71 see if ya can get a eng no, if ya want a truck with a bit of class that sounds good get a GM, if ya want a every day ole banger consider cummins...jk

Let me guess it is the same SAR currently on ebay for $25k?
