Said to someone I would show some more pictures of Dad`s truck, if you look at the picturesyou can tell she went through a couple of changes including a sleeper he built himself for her, added air cleaners and tanks and the paint job was done in the back yard at home by Dad.If you have any questions I will try and answer them.

....welcomer to the forum SIRO .. this truck is a very genuine Aussie ''900'' series that got a W model cab/bonnet change early on in her life...

...ch/no 104473, ex Manufacturers Bottle Company, last noted in Darwin in 2004 and apparently still alive up there or abouts 8-) 8-) 8-)....cheers

...g'day SIRO .. there are chassis listings going right back, and there was a certain mechanic in Melbourne who often had a camera around his neck back in the late 1970's/early '80's particularly, but also through into the '90's...

...he is a good scout and duly noted the chassis number and other details on the back of the pics of the trucks he photographed, and this one came up with those numbers.... quite a few years ago when a fairly deep research was going on regarding these earliest imported Kenworths...

....around the same time as all this research, an ol' mate was up in Darwin and came across an old ''Seattle'' with the W model cab, hood and bunk....he too spied the number on the rail....Bob's your Uncle!.....apparently it was a bottle green colour at the time in 2004....cheers

...BTW .. she'll still be around somewhere!......

There you go, thank you for that information, now the big one, how do you think I would go about finding the owner now?

Is there any chance the man with the camera and picture can post his picture of her?

Would a rego check of the chassis maybe help, not sure where to start?

You know he wanted her looking the best but he made a lot of miles in her,

Another short storey for you, he had in the grill red, white and blue marker lights fitted, he got away a couple of times telling the cops being a USA import the lights had to stay there to show it was an import, but as you would guess it didnt always work lol.

Amazing what can be dug up by people on this forum.
A few phone calls and we came up with the location and owners of a KW Detective last saw in 1981.
Great fun in the hunt.
