where to from here?

Be it firearms or V8 engines, the question is not "why should you have them?"
, but "who are you to demand that I justify them?"

It now seems likely the Terrier is gunna be on the market soon.
The old dream of doing the rally truck replica thing is fading, And I really need to cull some projects as I'm getting snowed under.
Biggest factor though, is that SWMBO physically can't drive it.
Plan now is to downsize a bit. Looked at a XP Falcon ute, but they're going for quite silly money now.
*ouch!*
That was me kicking myself at the memory of a pretty fair one I had and let go to the scrappy a decade ago.
Thought of retrieving my XW ute too, but that needs a L - O - T of work;- and parts that I no longer have.
Most likely option, (and one approved by the minister ... ) is another of my favourite vehicles, of which I've previously had four. Nissan Patrol G60
This is one of 'em, a 1980 job, from about 6 years ago
As it's a commercial vehicle, we can still run it on club rego, and, SWMBO can also drive the thing when required. They were built from 1958, through to 1981, and even through to 1999 in India as the Jonga.
Later ones (late 70s) even had optional air con and power steering.
... and I still got a few parts stashed away ...

yeah, the one pictured was good for about 9 MPG on gas.
One previous to this though was up around 25 MPG. Had synthetic oils through the diffs and transmissions, and running on 8.25R16 tyres

G'day Eddy, try putting out some feelers for a G60 from the end of the run. The last couple of hundred were fitted with the 5 speed box that the MQ patrol was fitted with. We used to race an early G60 and had 125 thou (yes, 1/8th of an inch) taken off the head to improve the compression ratio and performance, it made a big difference.

I got a feeling the 5 speed boxes went into the 81s which might mess up the club rego gig if they run the new rule.
The final run were designated G61, and had the 4 speed box, along with the C200 diffs from the MQ. Some had disc brakes as well. That one in my pic was a G61 (10/80) ... had the 4 speed, behind the earlier P engine, (as opposed to P40) : Only drum brakes tho.
