Thoughts on acquiring a 1973 Marshal Leyland?

I am looking for a good old reliable truck to do the occasional road trip in, but otherwise short hauls around home for the rest of the year. Any thoughts on a 1973 Marshal Leyland heavy rigid bogie drive?

How easy to drive were they? Noisy? Gearbox? I haven't driven one and it is of course interstate.

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks, Erik

Hi Erik, I do not know why you are getting no reply's over 160 views - perhaps we need more to join the forum. Sorry I can't be of any help, I don't know anything about this truck but good luck.

Thanks for the replies. At least now I know I haven't done anything wrong. I didn't realise they were rare. Not always a good start for a possible truck purchase, unless the driveline is made of more common bits. I will have to do some more investigation.

Eric I never responded because I have never heard of one even though Im quiet found of the Leyland brand dont tell anyone

I leased a sheep farm when I first got married and the people that owned the place had a Hippo tandam drive with cab like that had very complicated looking braking system on the back end had linkages and stuff running up to central maxis I seem to recall might have to jump on a Pommy truck forum and ask about them as I think info will be thin on the ground out here

Paul

I noticed on the faceless book thing the other day there is Leyland truck tractor and bus forum on there (not sure if they call them a forum on face book????)
