Hi there,
Just bought my first bedford! It's a d1, but front axle rear diff and doors are j model.
I'm after information from anyone who knows good places to source new parts as I need a new drag link.
I'm also trying to source someone who supplies rubbers for the door and window seals, also perhaps all the rubber piping between panels too...
Thanks guys. Ill post some pics soon!

Try ACW in Bayswater VIC for all your parts, or there is Tony Noonan up Kurrajong NSW, About Time Spares NSW.

A lot of the rubber sections are common to the auto industry and can be sourced from a range of suppiers. These ones have the profiles on their web site.eg; UES International; Spectrum Rubber
A drag link will have to be 2nd hand unless you are lucky, but they can be made to size by steering specialists.

If you can't get a drag link, another option is to get new tie rod ends and thread a solid bar.

The tapers should be the same. That's sort of what I did when I fitted Isuzu power steering to the bus.

The drag link is where I did the "conversion" from Isuzu to Bedford.

Thanks mammoth, ill check out those sites for the rubbers!
I very luckily stumbled across a website for surplus auto parts, they had a new old stock drag link sitting on the shelf! Brand new shipped to my door for $240!
Could hardly believe it myself!
Thanks again.

Sorry to sort of "hijack" your thread here a bit, But would like to know which model Isuzu front axle Jon D used in his conversion???
Thinking about a disc brake front end for my J1!!
Cheers & thanks Brian O

Brian,

Sorry, I didn't fit an Isuzu axle. I fitted a Isuzu steering column and power steering box to the bus. The join was made at the drag link where I threaded a solid Bedford rod into the hollow Isuzu drag link.

On the last photo, you can just see a "standard" tie rod end ball joint at the end of the solid rod. This has the same taper as the original drag link.

Thanks Jon,
That gets me the inner door seals, now just need to find the window seals, vent window seals and bonnet vent seal.
I'm going to go down to clark rubber and see what they've got.
Has any one got any pictures or drawings of what the profiles look like?
Thanks
Steve
