If you go to 50psi I know you will be able to fit more fuel in it after, it may look like a wine barrel and the ends rounded as well ;) ;) ;) ;)

Rather than filling with air, use water and then pressurise it.

Water being incompressible won't explode like air.

When gas cylinders are tested they use water for that reason.

Basically I would do what Swishy said but try at a lower pressure with water and work your way up if needed.

Depending on the thickness of the tank material, a plumbers plunger will work wonders...

I have heard of guy's with round tanks having an end removed and re-rolling but I've also heard a common fix was to remove it and refit it end for end, putting the dent on the inside. Probably not possible on all round tanks without some welding.

...g'day dno .. we did that end for end, but also side for side (for the fittings to work more easily on dual tanks) back when the painted steel tanks were all about...especially the Whites

Wouldn't it be best to call the ambulance first?

Then fill it with air.

I've seen plenty of tanks used as wheel chocks by bad operators over the years, the plastic cab tanks used to cop a flog'n too.
