The thing about whether folk go to a distant show is not just about the distance but how many days the show is spread over so there is plenty of opportunity for relaxing, meeting up with old mates, chewing the fat and telling lies. In the case of the Penrith show it is one day (IDSTBC), whereas just down the road in a few months will be the Clarendon event which is spread over 2 days and with friday as setup, and come and go as you please. Likewise it seems the recent Rocklea event has turned into a 3 day show.

Some times with a show that goes to long Mammoth the exhibitors are leaving before the public stop going threw the gate.
I don't mind the idea of a one day show either.
I am heading down to Penrith this Sunday and looking forward to it.

Saturday is set up day for exhibitors, and a road run participation is available. Also an evening function for fat chewing and fact stretching.
A new toilet/shower block has been recently installed for use of exhibitors wishing to camp out overnight.

As Busntruck says you can never please all the people all the time. The other thing that is happening is that the vintage truck show calendar is getting quite crowded and when exhibitors can't afford (money, time or both) to take a truck to every show they are forced to make choices.
Sounds like Penrith will be a good one.
