They're probably in a container off overseas by now.

This might seem a bit harsh but I hope who ever gets the vehicles next looks after them better than the rightful owner, it's like all these cases of animal neglect the owner might have the best intentions but it all gets to much and they end a big pile of rust

In a past life I owned a specialist Insurance organisation (similar to Shannon's) and historically theft of these sorts of vehicles just doesn't happen.

We had a Lamborghini "stolen" in Melbourne and simply told the owner we wouldn't pay the claim, we'd investigated and knew the owner was implicated. The car turned up the next day with a burnt out clutch.

These cars are so high profile there just isn't a market to sell them anywhere in the free world.

I'm pretty sure they will turn up and be undamaged in about 6 weeks time.

A fellow nearby here had a Porsche convertible that was an genuine article , the container it was in was stolen and found 150 kms away . The car was then sent out of Melb Vic to Malaysia, where the opportunity for its retrieval are highly unlikely. the exporter has been identified but it was one car of many to be stolen and send out
The local fellow had been communicating with people over its authenticity, and some how that knowledge ended up in the wrong hands, so hard to dispose of locally, easy off shore

...but as Zuffen knows, the owner may be fully complicit with the "theft" and departing of their vehicle to foreign shores... Sold for a good profit overseas, and then claimed as a theft for insurance purposes...

Porsches are a different kettle of fish to real exotics.

I say the above as an old Porsche owner so no sour grapes.

Porsche's are common by comparison to (say) a Ferrari or Lamborghini and hence blend into the flow of traffic. Porsche would have built 100 cars for every Ferrari and 200 cars for every Lamborghini in the last 40 years, so they are more saleable.

Additionally early Porsche parts are quite interchangable over a 30 year period so there is great demand for later model parts to improve early models.

If I were the Underwriter I'd be investigating this closely but be quite comfortable they will re-appear.

I agree these cars deserved better treatment than they were getting.

Dunno some of you blokes are sounding a bit harsh if the owner wants use the cars for a chook shed or wood shed or dog kennel that really is his or her choice isnt it ??
If its his or her car they can do what ever they want as far as Im concerned if I dont think thats the way a car should be treated I need to get my own and do my own thing
And anyway who are any of us to tell someone else how to treat a car truck or any other toy

just saying

Paul,

Fully agree with your comments on treatment.

I've had many a discussion with the Jaguar Owners Club about what their Members should and shouldn't be able to do with their car. They own and they can do as they wish.
