the coil is round old type I will go and have a look to see if it has a relief hole and the hilux is 12volt. I have run it longer a few weeks ago with out any problems cheers
The coil blowing up could be due to it may have been a resistor type coil most older motor vehicles ran a resistor type coil but all ran a bypass from the starter to get higher voltage during cranking to compensate for voltage drop, most coils will stand being turned on longer than 20 minutes and don't get to panicky with future testing of coils starting to feel warm or even hot they all do run at a certain temperature as is the nature of the way the coil works
