Well Swishy, since you asked for some photos, here is the new tanker that replaced the International that I have driven for the past 13 years and 1.4 million kms. The Inter was called Grandad's Mobility Scooter but since I have now got older and have a great-grandson, this one is called Great-Grandad's Mobility Scooter.

POSITIVES
The gold bulldog, put there because it has what they call a completely Mack drive train. Yes, I know the engine and gearbox are really Volvo but they do have Mack badges, the diffs are original Mack ones.
It is quieter than the Inter, as long as the windows are shut.
I like the look of it.
The engine brake is very efficient.
The 500hp engine really feels like a 500, it performs well.
Big fuel tanks and big AdBlue tank.
NEGATIVES
The ride is very rough, much worse than the International.
The cab feels cramped at first, but you get used to that.
I would prefer a manual gearbox but the auto works reasonably well in most situations. However the controls for it (push buttons on the far left of the dash) are a crazy idea, you cannot use them without taking your eyes off the road.
The headlights are very poor, about as good as an old 6 volt VW. We have had extra driving lights fitted but they of course can only be used on high beam.
OVERALL
Do I like it? Yes; like all trucks it has its good and bad points and you learn to live with the bad ones.

Yes I know all about that, I drove R-models for 8 years. I didn't really expect this one to be even worse!

Congratulations VicHung on both your new great grandson and your new ride
...you must be extremely proud of both these achievements and all credit to you for living the life you have to see out these fantastic milestones....Three Cheers for VicHung !!
...P.S .. could you possibly lower the pressures in the drive tyres to alleviate some of the rough riding ?

Defective, the tyre pressures are at the recommended minimum now, don't want to go any lower. The boss wouldn't let me anyway!
Cheers, Vic

What about the seat, lower the pressure and make sure it is moving properly?. I was driving a truck today and the seat didn't seem to be moving properly so I has a look behind and found an aerosol can wedged underneath.

Hi Pete
The seat is not the problem, it works just fine. I actually know what the problem is.
The problem is that I have been spoilt; for the last 13 years, as you know, I have been driving an International 9400i. It rode very well, surprisingly well, on NZ's rough roads and the Mack Granite is not as good.
