Its the South Australian Tourist Bureau's new charabanc in 1926 - "This new charabanc or motor coach is parked in front of the Intelligence and Tourist Bureau, next door to the Prince Alfred Hotel in King William Street. It is filled with smartly dressed passengers whilst onlookers stand in the background. [On back of photograph] 'Tourist Bureau motor coach purchased in 1926"

Russell Mee of Melbourne built a charabanc on an Albion (I think) truck chassis of about 1929, in the 1970's or 1980's. Russell's Brother or Cousin, I forget which, ran Mee's Bus Lines.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Back in the very early 70s I suggested that the Hot Rod Club build one from a couple of FJs (or even three) seeing there were so many laying around, and were cheap as chips! The idea was to have a vehicle we could use for group outings . . .

Never happened as we were all busy building our own individual rides. :(
