Vic Manovicc repowered his Atkinson with a Cummins KTA 600. About 20 years ago when his truck was a semi trailer working on the coal to Pt Kembla , no one could get past him going up the hills.

These were given to my brother and myself as kids from the local IH dealer in Colac, they were actually given to my father for us boys

Anyway a couple of non Australian Atkinsons in the mix but they came in the group

I have shared them before on here but probably back in the photo bucket days

They are all Aus trucks ... Just shows some of the weird axle configurations we had for a while in the 70s ...

Those legs are for tipping to provide stability as the load is stuck up the trailer and it makes it unstable

I do have another photo of this or its sister truck or trucks tipped with legs down

I’d say if that was the aim, it wouldn’t provide much more stability. Be useless when you were trying to run the load out. Just my opinion.

Cheers for those awesome pics…

That bp tanker is definitely an interesting setup…

With that extra axle at the rear of the lead trailer with singles on it..

Very cool looking bit of gear though..

Thanks for them pics mate.
