Cobba,

how do you find the Hi-Ace?

Helen is looking for a new "Dog-mobile" that has more room than he VW Caddy.

I know there's a bit of a wait for them but how is it to drive. She doesn't cover long distances but it has to ride well or her dogs will complain. Then she will complain to me:-(

Zuffen, I cannot comment on a Hy-ace but a Mercedes Benz Vito is a good, roomy van that handles well but unloaded or lightly loaded has a harsher ride than a sedan.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Hi Zuffen.
The Hiace rides like a car and is as comfortable as a commercial vehicle can be. I say that because I find the seats are firm and with no spare padding on my rear end I bought a soft polyurethane type sponge cushion which helps me out a lot. I find that the back ends are light and can break traction on wet grass backing uphill sometimes but with more weight it is fine. 6 speed auto is a dream and Bongo delivers over 600klms per tank with that racking and fridge in the back. This comes down to around just over 500klms when towing our 17' van. Excellent vision out the front and sides and the built in reverse camera with GPS is great too. Bongo is a 12/20 model but this model was around a bit earlier and should have similar specs. We chose to have the 2 side sliding doors and find it a dream for access to things up front.
My niece has Show Corgis and she too wants a Bongo and is setting things up to buy one but needs to sell off a few things first. If your thinking new or not go to the car yard and take one for a test ride. It took us less than a kilometer to decide this is for us.

Cheers Cobba & Cobbarette

Thursday will be your lucky day as the local museum at Glen Innes is having a machinery open day, including very rare Blackstone crawler. Plus I will be there with my traction engine in steam.
Returning to Grafton you might consider taking the old Grafton Road - takes longer and often unsealed but much more scenic and you get to go through the tunnel.

Cobbadog,
Which one are you dragging home? It would be nice to restore both but both big projects.
The first photo looks like a Thornycroft but the name looks too short. I have no idea what the second one is. Maybe a Mack?

I trust that you and Cobbarette are well and doing fine.
Keep on keeping on and keep those photos coming.
