Sarge - It's pretty close to a 554 engine, because the 554 uses the AD-264 (same as the AUD-264 pictured above), whereas the BTD6 uses the BD-264.
Basically the same engine, but the BD is British-built, the AD is Australian-built.
There would be some minor differences in accessories and possibly even castings, but they were supposed to be substantially the same engine.

G'day ozfarm, I am looking for a starter motor for an Inter WD9. Is it the same block as a W9 and will a W9 starter fit? Thanks Geoff

Just had a dig through some stuff here and found a parts manual for the D-236 and D-282 engines from hough H-30B. it saysform PMD-236 and that it supersedes form UD-236-2 and UD-282-2 dated Febuary 1969. I have two of them so if your interested in one copy let me know.
