51 Dodge Hearses

I haven't been here for ages but i am going to have a crack at putting some pictures up of my projects.



I am chasing any information i can get on these two.
The black one, no. D40CW2, worked in Surrey Hills then Brewarrina then ended up in Gilgandra.
The silver one,D40CW1 ,was black, worked for Tighe's in Coonabarabran.
There was a third chassis imported.
I did find a photo of a 51 Ambulance beside a Mark 2 Zephyr but lost it when the laptop fried.
Black one belongs to the wife and is a runner with 46000 miles , silver one is mine and is only a roller.

The hearse towball is a very popular vehicle because they are all dying to get into one :dry:

Last I saw of the black one it was in very poor condition.

If you did the resto, you've done well.

I think it needed at least one cathedral window.

The black one hasn't been restored. just lot's of cleaning. Pint is buggered but looks good in photo's. I am rewiring and fixing brakes at the moment.

Paint not bloody Pint. Maybe i am thirsty.

We have had three windows made. Not exactly the same as the originals but better than nothing.
The bloke who did them refuses to do anymore so hopefully we don't break any.
I will get some close up photo's of the window's.

That car has been the subject of quite a bit of discussion over the last 6 or so years.

Re Goulburn Valley Ambulance.
The ambulance described as a 1953 Customline appears to be a single spinner Custom.
I hope they gave a better ride than the Ambulances of to-day.
